Welcome to the Presbyterian Student Fellowship at Wake Forest University, lovingly known as Presby!
Following Jesus’ example, Presby is an open and accepting ministry, welcoming students of all backgrounds and beliefs into a caring family. We hope to serve God by seeking peace, justice, and a healthy, thriving planet.
We have three main areas in our life together: study and growth; fun and fellowship; and working and serving -
STUDY AND GROWTH - We engage in Bible studies from such sources as Presbyterians for Restoring Creation and The Thoughtful Christian, invite guest speakers including local pastors and educators, and view thought-provoking documentaries such as the 11th Hour and Crossing Arizona. We also attend campus-wide events such as Encounter Point, a documentary and panel discussion about the Israel-Palestine situation.
FUN AND FELLOWSHIP - Every now and then we need to unwind and depressurize, so we have some fun with game nights (Catchphrase is a big request!), head out to the local mini-golf course, or hit the lanes for some bowling. We also have special fellowship by sharing some dinners with other groups on campus – early Thanksgiving Dinners with the Baptists, and Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinners and Maundy Thursday Tuesday Spaghetti Dinners with the Lutherans and Episcopalians.
WORKING AND SERVING - Learning and having fun is fine, but we are also called to go out into the world, beyond the Wake bubble, and serve each other. Presby takes part in campus-wide service events such as Project Pumpkin and Campus Kitchen, as well as things in the larger community, like Habitat for Humanity and the CROP Walk. We also hope to reach out beyond Winston-Salem and serve others during our alternative spring breaks.
In all that we do, we seek to grow closer to God, and in doing that we cannot help but grow closer to each other, building up the body of Christ.
